Housings for Your Application
Each component is manufactured to your requirements. These examples help identify the geometry and interfaces to discuss with 6CNC.
01
Electronic & protective housings
Bodies with cavities, PCB or component mounting features, threaded holes, and defined cosmetic surfaces.
02
Automation & mechanical housings
Components that locate and support internal mechanisms through coordinated bores, pockets, and mating faces.
03
Industrial equipment casings
Custom housings with the specified material, surface protection, and interfaces for their operating environment.
Engineering review
Complex Cavities. Coordinated Assembly Fits.
Start with the features that determine fit, function, and acceptance. 6CNC reviews these requirements before confirming the manufacturing route.
01
Make the internal geometry accessible
Include cavity depth, internal radii, wall thickness, and any undercuts. 6CNC reviews tool reach and machining sequence.
02
Coordinate bores and mating faces
Identify assembly datums, bearing or component fits, hole position, and the features that must be inspected together.
03
Plan thin-wall and finish control
State the critical dimensions before and after treatment, surface requirements, and protected interfaces. Review deformation risks against the actual geometry.

Housings Machining Specifications
Use these published 6CNC reference ranges to begin your enquiry. The quotation confirms what applies to your actual part.
| Item | Published scope & project review |
|---|---|
| Materials | Aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and engineering plastics; specify the exact grade. |
| Published size reference | Custom sizes, typically up to 600 mm; confirm the complete envelope and feature access. |
| Tolerance reference | ±0.01–±0.05 mm on suitable features, subject to material, geometry, and measurement review. |
| Quantity | 1–600 pieces. |
| Processes | CNC milling, turning, and multi-axis machining. |
| Surface treatments | Anodizing, sandblasting, powder coating, and polishing, according to the substrate and project specification. |

Material and Finish, Planned Together
Specify the material
Choose the alloy or polymer grade against the operating conditions and approved design. 6CNC reviews the stock, cavity geometry, wall sections, and finishing route together.
Define the finished condition
Mark the visible faces and functional interfaces separately. Define masking at bores, threads, sealing surfaces, or contact areas and state which dimensions apply after finishing.

Inspection Follows the Features That Matter
Inspection focuses on cavity dimensions, bores, reference faces, mounting patterns, and interfaces between housing sections. Agree the accessible measurement features, reports, and final surface checks before release.

01
Review the drawing
Confirm the material, geometry, critical features, quantity, and acceptance requirements.
02
Agree the route
Plan machining, workholding, any outside treatments, and inspection checkpoints.
03
Machine & finish
Produce the agreed drawing revision and coordinate the specified finishing sequence.
04
Inspect & prepare
Complete the agreed checks, documentation, and packaging for the order.

Housings Machining FAQ
Can you machine deep pockets and thin walls?
Send the complete geometry and critical dimensions. Tool access, corner radii, material, wall thickness, and workholding determine feasibility.
How are matching housing halves controlled?
Provide both parts and the assembly drawing. Define locating features, mating faces, fasteners, and any sealing requirement in one coordinated datum scheme.
How does a housing differ from an enclosure?
This page emphasizes mechanical bodies, internal cavities, bores, and functional fits. For protective cases and cosmetic covers, see our enclosure page; 6CNC reviews overlapping designs together.
